Demo Derby & Pig Wrestling headline the weekend

Saturday and Sunday night at the Blaine County Fair is always a good time especially when you consider the Blaine County Showdown Demolition Derby takes center stage Saturday night and the ever popular Pig Wrestling concludes the fair Sunday evening.

This year fairgoers enjoyed a number of great events and were treated to a trio of free concerts by Cale Moon following the Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo Thursday and Friday and the Derby Saturday.

The Blaine County Showdown Derby is one of the biggest events of the summer across the Hi-Line and sells out annually. The start of this years Derby was pushed back an hour but that didn't slow down the action inside the arena.

There were three heats leading up to the Main Event as well as a Chain-n-Bang heat. 16 Weld Cars comprised the field to go along with eight Chain-n-Bang entries.

Chinooks Garrett Powell took the $5,000 Grand Prize winning the main event in what organizer Scott Skoyen described as "One of the best main events we have ever had in Chinook. It was awesome, as good as your going to see."

Ryan Erickson of Havre finished second and Skyler Powell of Havre was third. Jake Hedges of Glasgow won the $1,500 prize in the Chain-n-Bang.

"It was a long weekend but things went smooth and the fans got to see a great show," concluded Skoyen

The Pig Wrestling took center stage Sunday evening as the finale to the Blaine County Fair and taking place in the big arena.

Contestants young and old took their turn in the ring. Each team consisted of four team members separated into four different age groups.

In addition there was a calcutta held for the junior and senior divisions. Complete results were unavailable at press time
