The 53rd Annual Milk River Indian Days Powwow

More than 300 dancers converged on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation to take part in the Milk River Indian Days Powwow. Dancers come from all over the United States and Canada to compete in a variety of competitions to earn cash prizes and awards. This years event featured a singing competition for the first time and also included a number of special dances to honor loved ones sponsored by their families.The 53rd Annual Milk River Indian Days was another huge success. Hundreds of people descended on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation to take part in the festivities. The beauty and pageantry of the powwow is awe inspiring with the dancers, drummers and singers performing in traditional regalia dating back for generations. The Milk River Indian days takes place at the Powwow grounds located at the Fort Belknap Agency. Competitions are held in several different categories allowing the youngest to the oldest to compete. The four day celebration is a way for the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation to celebrate its culture and provides all those in attendance with a way to be a part of it. The drummers are all local while the Dancers and Singers come from all over the United states and Canada.
