We've Got The County Covered
So many books! So little time! Make a point this week to stop at the library to see the new arrivals. Leslie Shimotakahara is the author of “After the Bloom.” Lily Takmitsu goes missing from her home in Toronto. Her daughter, Rita, knows her mother has problems with disassociation and memory; but she has never been gone this long. Not happy with the lack of involvement from the police, Rita begins her own investigation. As she searches for her mother, Rita discovers secrets surrounding the family’s internment during WWII, their move to Toronto after the war, and a father she has never known.
Harper and Tabitha are twin sisters who couldn’t be more different. Even though they live on islands in Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket that are only eleven miles apart they haven’t seen each in over a decade. Now they switch islands and lives to save a disintegrated family. But secrets, rumors and lies follow them making this the most talked-about summer ever. Don’t miss a great summer read “The Identicals” by Elin Hilderbrand.
Two new nonfiction selections include “Montana’s Pioneer Botanists: Exploring the Mountains and Prairies” edited by Rachel Potter and Peter Lesica and “Radical Hope: Letters of Love and Dissent in Dangerous Times” edited by Carolina De Robertis.
“The Marsh King’s Daughter” is a psychological thriller by Karen Dionne. Helena has a harrowing past that has come back to haunt her. She must hunt down the dangerous man who has now escaped from prison. An abductor and survivalist called the Marsh King can only be found by one person: the daughter he trained.
Nora and Theresa Flynn are sisters who leave their village in Ireland to come to America. Nora is the responsible one engaged to a man she is not sure she loves. Theresa is just the opposite: ready to grab life with both hands and live it to the fullest. When Theresa becomes pregnant Nora must make a decision that has far-reaching repercussions. “Saints for All Occasions” is written by J. Courtney Sullivan.
Other new titles include “The Mustanger and the Lady” by Dusty Richards, “The Fall of Shannara: The Black Elfstone” by Terry Brooks, and “Dying Breath” a Krewe of Hunters novel by Heather Graham.
A total solar eclipse will take place on August 21 in North America. The library has a limited number of viewing glasses to give away. We also have an informational flyer that explains the eclipse and what to expect.
The library is parting with our VHS tapes. They are on sale now for $.50 each or three for $1.00.
