'AA' Chinook Lions 4th overall, Harlem 1st in Class B at State Swim Meet

The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim teams completed yet another stellar season in the pool culminating with an outstanding performance in Lewistown at the State Swim Meet.

Several swimmers turned in fantastic efforts and many improved vastly on their times from the Divisional meet and established personal bests.

Overall the Chinook Lions finished fourth in the 22 team meet racking up 450 points over the weekend. The teams are based into four classifications (AA, A, B, C) based on the number of qualifiers from the divisional meet for the purpose of awarding team trophies.

The Harlem swim team finished first in the Class B with 212.5 points and eleventh overall.

It was a solid effort by the Harlem group as they brought just 13 swimmers to the meet. Every one of them performed very well in helping the team bring home the Class B first place trophy.

Marie Hogan was a State Champion for Harlem winning Gold in the 9-10 Girls 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of :41.16. She also captured silver in the 50 Meter Freestyle.

Alaura Hawley was a Silver Medalist as well earning a runner up finish in the 9-10 girls 100 Meter Freestyle.

Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen capped off a fine season with a pair of silver medals and a bronze at the state meet. He finished second in both the 200 Meter Individual Medley and the 200 Meter Freestyle and was third in the 100 Meter Backstroke.

Taggert Devaney also earned a Bronze for the Harlem team in the 200 Meter Individual Medley.

The Chinook Lions were led by the efforts of three individual high point winners in Katie Tilleman, Daniel Tilleman and Brockton Elliot.

Katie was a four time state champion in Lewistown sweeping her individual events and helping her freestyle relay to earn the top spot on the podium.

Katie won the eight and under girls 25 Meter Breaststroke with a time of

:23.73, the 25 Meter Backstroke with an effort of :20.60 and the 25 Meter Butterfly after touching the wall in :18.82.

She joined teammates Lori Mord, Mara Edwards and Rachel Stephens to win the 100 Meter Freestyle Relay in 1:19.51. The eight and under girls Medley relay team of Tilleman, Edwards, Mord and Amyerah Kelley took the Bronze medal as well.

Daniel Tilleman was a state champion in the 9-10 boys 50 Meter Freestyle winning the event with a time of :35.07. He later won the 100 Meter Freestyle in 1:19.23.

Brockton Elliot won the 9-10 Boys 50 Meter Butterfly completing the two lengths of the pool in :39.94 to win gold. Elliot also earned a silver medal in the 100 Meter Individual Medley completing the four strokes in 1:39.28.

Tilleman and Elliot then teamed with Kohen Sullivan and Dentin DePriest to capture Gold in the 100 Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:20.14.

DePriest earned himself a pair of visits to the podium earning Bronze Medals in both the 100 Meter Individual Medley and the 100 Meter Freestyle.

Tyler Schoen was a Silver Medalist in the 11-12 Boys 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :31.47.

Benton Elliot picked up a pair of Bronze medals in the 13-14 50 Meter and 100 Meter Freestyle.

The 11-12 Medley and Freestyle boys relay teams of Schoen, Oskar Pula, Lane Hasler and Liam Edwards earned silver medals in each event.

The eight and under boys 100Meter Freestyle Relay team of Walter Schoen, Micah Conner, Bryce Elliot and Kolton DePriest finished second capturing the Silver medal in a time of 1:22.56

The girls 9-10 100 Meter Freestyle relay team of Hallie Neibauer, Evy Jendro, Hannah Schoen and Amanda Mord swam there way to a Bronze Medal with a time of 1:13.76.

Erik Pula Reece Elliot, Brad Borjas and Benton Elliot made up the boys 13-14 200 Meter Freestyle Relay and finished third to earn the Bronze Medal.

"I'm so proud of all the kids, they did such an amazing job this weekend," said Chinook Head Coach Suzanne Farmer.

"It's always sad to see the season end but I have enjoyed spending the summer with them. They accomplished so much this year and nearly filled our PR (Personal Record) board. Everyone worked so hard this summer and I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of them," concluded Farmer.
