We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Sugarbeeters dropped a 40-20 Northern Eight-man Subdivision contest to the Cascade Badgers Friday 40-20.
The Badgers got on the scoreboard first midway through the opening stanza but the 'Beeters would respond on the ensuing possession.
Junior James Christensen started the drive with a five yard blast and then finished it with an 11 yard power run across the goal line. Junior Trajan Hannum hooked up with junior Brendan Edwards for the conversion and the 'Beeters were on top 8-6.
The Badgers again had an answer of their own, scoring on the very next possession with a long 11 play drive.
Junior Karson Powell took the ensuing kickoff right at the eleven yard line, made two defenders miss and then raced left outrunning defenders down the sideline for a 69 yard kickoff return touchdown to tie the contest at 14-14.
The Badgers then scored four touchdowns over the next quarter and a half before the 'Beeters would have an answer,
With 5:43 left in the fourth quarter Hannum rolled right and found a streaking Edwards coming across the middle of the field connecting on a perfectly timed 33 yard scoring strike to provide the 'Beeters with their final points.
Chinook will head to Fort Benton this Friday to face the Longhorns. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
