We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Senior Center

By Kristi Norby

The October calendars are out, so stop by and see what we have planned for next month. We have added a few activities including a pie social with the Board of Directors.

The Genealogy Group is starting up again and will be meeting in the afternoon on the third Tuesday of the month. Last month, there were 8 members present. If you are interested in joining, please talk to Vernelia Tilleman or me.

We had a nice turnout for the Cancer Support Group on Tuesday. Guest speaker Shaun Guffin was very inspiring as he shared his life experiences. Mary Pyette works very hard putting the Cancer Support Group together each month. If you have questions or topics you would like to discuss, she is always willing to listen. You can find Mary here almost every morning, just stop by to see her!

Movies are shown Wednesdays in the Library Meeting Room at 1 p.m. “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” is scheduled for Sept. 27. Refreshments are provided.

Whist is played this Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 29, Jackpot Bingo is scheduled for 1 p.m. Virginia Olson won the blackout prize last week.

Friday is the Birthday Bake Raffle. The Kitchen Band will be playing and there will be pinochle after lunch. Last week’s pinochle winners were Marilyn Williamson and Mary Novak.

Don’t miss out on the Foot Clinic, Monday, Oct. 2. If you need an appointment, be sure to give me a call. I have a few afternoon appointments left.

Pool & cribbage will be the activity for Monday afternoon.

The Hearing Clinic with Pat Fournier is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 3 starting about 10:30 a.m.

Shanghai Rummy is every Tuesday at 1 p.m. Last week’s winner was Don Durocher.

Gary Smith has kept us entertained by bringing in some old Opinion newspapers from the 1980’s and 1990’s. Everyone enjoys reading them. So far he has brought in papers about winning the basketball championships and the big fire. Stop in and read about back in the day… Some of it is pretty funny stuff!

Thanks to Max Maddox for the watermelon, to Vicki Niederegger and the community garden for the vegetables and to the Hartland Colony for the onions. Our seniors love all the fresh food!

Stop in… the coffee is always on!
