We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Rod & Gun Club will hold its Fifth Annual Gun Show this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Commercial Building located at the Blaine County Fairgrounds.
The Gun Show is the primary fund raiser for the club and has another great show lined up for the weekend.
The Chinook Rod and Gun Club has cemented itself within Chinook and Blaine County as a fantastic outlet for families to get involved in the outdoors.
The Club has been very active in getting youth from all over Blaine County out to Dry Fork Reservoir each spring to connect with members of the Rod and Gun Club and the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks in a positive fun learning experience.
The club has also done extensive work at the gun range south of Chinook on the Clear Creek road making the facility one of the premier ranges on the Hi-line. The facility has both pistol and rifle ranges as well as a trap range.
The club has formed trap shooting leagues for members and interested people from all over.
The Club is very family oriented with their motto being, “To enhance the experiences of the outdoors and in doing so creating a safe and enjoyable environment for shooting sports and fishing.”
The Gun Show is open to the public and features much more than guns and ammo. Nearly 80 tables will be set up by vendors selling their wares that include Antiques, Made in Montana Products, outdoor equipment, knives, jewelery, furniture, collectibles and so much more.
On hand will be a returning vendor with a large collection of Winchester Rifles dating back to the 1800’s. Also on display the show will include vendors specializing in optics.
Local antique dealer Scott MacKenzie will also be on hand looking to buy and sell. Those interested in purchasing fur products can do so as the show includes a vendor selling hand made fur hats.
For those folks with an old gun laying around that may have been passed down they can bring it to the show and have it appraised free of charge.
Terry Riding of Spokane, WA will be at the show again this fall featuring her homemade Kahlua Cakes. The proceeds from the sale of the cakes will be donated to Blaine County 4H Foundation.
Terry’s husband Stewart will also be donating a custom rifle to the Chinook Rod and Gun Club to be raffled off at a later date with the proceeds going to help with needs throughout Blaine County.
The commercial building will be open on Friday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 am. - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Following the Friday show some vendors will be on hand at the Eagles Club for the Surf and Turf dinner.
The Chinook Rod & Gun Club has made it very easy for those folks wishing to attend by charging one $5 fee for entry to all three days of the show.
Concessions will be provided by the Valley Clover 4H Club. The Valley Clovers will be featuring local homegrown beef and Rocky Mountain Hot Dogs.
