Harry E. Friede

Longtime Chinook Resident, Harry E. Friede, passed away at home from natural causes on October 21, 2017.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 15th, which would have been his 86th birthday, at the Chinook Sr. Citizen Center from 2 to 4 p.m.

Harry was born November 15, 1931, to Otto and Mary Friede. He was raised on the family farm graduating from Chinook High School in 1953.

On May 31, 1957, Harry married Julia A. Nesslar enjoying 60 years of marriage together while raising a family and farming in the Paradise Valley.

During those years Harry worked long hours at the GTA Elevator in Chinook retiring in 1993 after nearly 38 years of being covered in grain dust.

Harry enjoyed farming, puttering in his shop, building/repairing things, working in the yard/garden, keeping track of the weather, going for drives along with feeding the birds and throwing the ball for his dog Nappy.

He enjoyed early morning coffee at the Senior Center with friends and was always up for visits from his grandchildren.

In the last year, Harry became quite the artist spending hours creating colorful posters to help pass the time.

Harry is survived by his wife, Julia, children Dottie (Tim) Dwyer, Penny (Brett) Noland, Kent, Jay (Penny) and Kevin and granddaughter Ashley (Frankie Nieft), who he helped raise along with 12 additional grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He is survived by one brother Glenn (Lynette). He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marjorie, Dorothy, Lloyd, Neil, Gordon, Norman, Ray, Donna, Kenny and infant sister.

Arrangements are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook. Memorials are suggested to Paws of Chinook.
