Monthly women's "get together" to begin April 26 in Chinook

A women's retreat was held in early March at the Grand Union Hotel in Fort Benton. While organized by some women from the Chinook Alliance Church, it was open to any who wished to attend. The theme of the retreat was "Broken Beautiful" from a book and video series by Ann Voskamp entitled "The Broken Way." Thirty-seven women from Chinook and surrounding areas attended the two day event.

Participants at the retreat heard repeatedly that "the good brokenness of God heals our bad brokenness. Only the wounds of God can heal our wounds." The theme song for the retreat was "The Broken Beautiful."

Because of the significant turnout, the excitement among those attending the retreat and the great experiences shared by the group during the retreat, a follow-up gathering was planned. In late March the group held a supper and fellowship and invited additional women to join. Based on the responses from the retreat and the follow-up gathering a decision was made to begin a monthly women's get together. All women are welcome, regardless of religious tradition.

The gathering will be held the fourth Thursday evening of each month. Betty Billmayer, one of the organizers of the original retreat, wrote, "We'll have pot luck supper followed by whatever is planned for the evening, maybe watching a movie, playing games, hearing people's stories and praying together."

The initial meeting of the women's get together will meet April 26, 6:30 pm, at the Chinook Alliance Church. There will be a pot luck supper and attendees are asked to bring a dish starting with "A" or "Z."
