Lois Vivian (Nichols) Hanson, 99, passed away on Friday June 29th at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook Mt, where she had been a resident for a year. She was born to Noel and Hazel (Bunker) Nichols on May 11th 1919, north of Loham MT.
She grew up and went to grade school near their farm. She came into Chinook and boarded with Mrs. Kathman, so she could go to high school. She met her husband Raymond Hanson. They were married on Nov. 18, 1936.
They had three daughters and one son were born to them. They lived in Chinook until 1950 when they bought a farm east of Zurich.
They lived there for several years and then moved back to Chinook, and have been there ever since. She worked at the Tastie Freeze for several summers and then went to work for DePreist Trucking until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle. She spent many hours at the Chinook Senior Center. Those proceeding her in death were her husband Ray, daughter Donna, and three grandsons, Rich Steinmetz, Jerry Ramberg and Allen Hanson, son in law Adolph Steinmetz.
She is survived by her daughters Delores Steinmetz of Butte MT, Dorothy & Terry Balles of Bayview ID. Her son Dale & Sharon Hanson of Henderson NV, and Son in Law Harry Ramberg of Chinook MT. She has 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
She will be missed by her family and acquaintances, but she is in a better place and joined her relatives in heaven. Love you Mom!
