Chinook, Harlem swimmers shine

In their last swim, (June 30 - July 1) before the Blaine County Fair, Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen, Lillian Cochran and Alaynee Hawley along with Chinooks Rachel Stephens each claimed High Point honors in their respective division. The swimmers competed in Glendive and Cut Bank.

Rasmussen broke four pool records while in Glendive. He bested the old 200 Meter Individual Medley record, held previously by Sam Sharples and set in 2005, with a time of 2:44.50.

Andrew also set a new mark in the 100 Meter Backstroke on Saturday and the broke his own record on Sunday with a time of 1:14.28. He also established a new pool record in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:23.74.

The swim schedule has only four weeks remaining which means only two weeks remain for swimmers to qualify for the Eastern Divisional swim meet.

This weekend swimmers will head to Scobey and then travel to Lewistown, July 21-22.

The Eastern Divisional swim meet will be held in Chinook on July 28-29.

The Montana Federation of Swimmers State Meet will be held in Conrad the weekend of August 4-5.

Good luck to all of our area swimmers this season.
