We've Got The County Covered

Sugarbeeter Shout Out

As Chinook Public Schools gears up for the 2018-19 school year, there are several topics I would like to address with everyone: things to do, staff placements and staff needs, weight room, corporate sponsor program and possible activity fee changes.

Things to do

As we enter the fall there are several items to have ready for students. For students that have attended Chinook Schools and live out of Chinook District, please fill out a Student Attendance Agreement (FP-14). This is a yearly form that needs to be Board approved. Our office has them or they can be obtained from the Montana Office of Public Instruction website: opi.mt.gov.

Meadowlark students can go to the website chinookschools.org website and obtain a supply list for the upcoming year. Parents please check out the new website for information and see the fantastic work that Paula Molyneaux, Rose Stuker and Heather DePriest have compiled for the website. For more questions the Meadowlark Office will be open on August 13th for Business.

Any students that are planning on participating in athletics need to make sure that they have their physicals done before practices start on August 10th. Students in 7-12 make sure that you have class schedules set up. Please check out the website for more information.

Staff Placements and

Staff Needs

We have finalized our classroom placements for the upcoming year. The movement includes Melinda Jones in kindergarten, Tammy Edwards in 1st, Bobby Weinheimer ½ time PE and 3rd, Jill Paulsen in 5th and Bryce Weinheimer in 6th. We are working to finalize a K-12 librarian.

At this time, we are still looking for an assistant high school football coach as well as two junior high football coaches. We are also in need of substitute teachers, bus drivers and custodial staff. Please contact me if you are interested.

Weight Room

As many of you remember that we are working on changing the fees for the weight room and gym use policies for individuals (groups are different). When we complete our key fobs in the elementary we will send notices to folks letting them know that the fees will be $10 a month to access our facilities (elementary and high school access is allowed). The finances collected from these fees allows us to acquire and maintain our weight room equipment and exercise equipment.

Corporate Sponsor Program

We have started the renewal process for the corporate sponsor program. We have two options for the program. Option #1 costs $500 dollars and provides a gymnasium banner, 2 activity passes, a yearbook and game program advertisement and a Beeter Booster Certificate. Option #2 costs $750 dollars and includes all of option #1, a football field banner, 4 additional activity passes and a certificate for $50 dollars of Beeter Booster Gear. Contact Darin Hannum at 357-2236 if you are interested in the program.

Activity Fee Changes

At the August Board meeting we are going to discuss the possibility of raising our activity participation fees, Family Passes, Student passes by $5 dollars a piece. The reason behind our request to raise the fees is the rising costs of travel, equipment and a raise to the fees for JV officials. In the past two years we have lowered the supply and uniform budgets to help offset the costs. This upcoming year we are working on reducing overnight trips to help minimize some expenses. A raise in the fees will assist our goal of being financially sustaining in activities and athletics.
