We've Got The County Covered
The swim season has one more weekend in the pool before swimmers head to the Eastern Divisional Swim meet and the Chinook Lions and Harlem swimmers are looking good as the season winds down.
The teams were in Scobey this past Saturday and Sunday and swam extremely well. The two teams combined to set 21 pool records and one federation record. Many swimmers broke records on Saturday during their preliminary swim and then re-broke the record in the finals on Sunday as they continue to improve each time they get in the pool.
Harlem's Andrew Rasmussen had another stellar performance in Scobey breaking three pool records and a federation record while winning the 13-14 Intermediate Boys High Point trophy.
Sunday Rasmussen shattered his own 200 Meter Freestyle pool record as well as the Federation record by more than 17 seconds with a time of 2:18.08, the old mark was 2:35.33. He also established a new mark in the 100 Meter Backstroke winning with a time of 1:15.16.
Saturday Andrew took three seconds of the pool record in the 200 Meter Individual Medley winning with a time of 2:40.78. He also swam the 100 Meter Free as an exhibition on Saturday finishing the four lengths of the pool in 1:00.77 nearly cracking the one minute barrier.
The Lions had a handful of swimmers break pool records on Saturday and the improve on them Sunday. The Lions had five High Point winners over the weekend including Bryce Elliot in the eight and under boys, Britton Elliot in the 11-12 Junior girls, Kohen Sullivan and Daniel Tilleman in the 9-10 Midget boys and Katie Tilleman in the 9-10 Midget Girls.
Bryce took home top honors for the eight and under boys by winning the 25 Meter Freestyle with a time of :18.55, the 25 Meter Breaststroke in :25.04 and the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :40.31, which was also a new pool record.
Katie Tilleman broke the pool record in the 50 Meter Breaststoke on Saturday and again on Sunday winning the finals with a time of :49.44. She also took home the gold in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :35.34 and the 50 Meter Backstroke (:44.53).
Kohen Sullivan broke and re-broke records in two events over the weekend. Kohen won the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:17.92 and the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of :45.12. Sullivan also finished second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time 0f 35.55.
Daniel Tilleman established a new pool mark in the 50 Meter Breaststroke Saturday and then bettered his time Sunday to win with a time of :4985. Tilleman also won the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of :34.83 and finished second in the 100 Meter Freestyle clocking in at 1:18.89.
Brockton Elliot set a new pool record in the 9-10 Midget Boys 50 Meter Butterfly on both days winning with a time of :39.38. Brockton also won the 100 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 1:34.11 and finished third in the 50 Meter Freestyle. Brockton, Daniel and Kohen were joined by Jacob Metcalf on the 9-10 Boys Midget Free and Medley Relays were they set new pool records in both events winning the Medley with a time of 1:19.59 and the Free with a time of 1:05.81.
Britton Elliot captured top honors in the 11-12 Junior Girls division by winning all three of her events including the 50 Meter Backstroke in which she set pool records Saturday and Sunday and won with a time of :41.55. She also won the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of:33.20 and the 100 Meter Freestyle touching the pad in 1:16.37.
Benton Elliot set two pool records in Scobey winning the 100 Meter Freestyle Sunday afternoon with a time of 1:01.46 and the 50 Meter Freestyle in :27.11. He also finished third in the 200 Meter Freestyle finishing with a time of 2:22.63.
The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim teams will head to Lewistown this weekend in their final prep for the Eastern Divisional the following week being held in Chinook.
Swimmers who finish in the top 12 in each event will then earn the opportunity to swim at the Montana Federation of Swimmers State Swim Meet in Conrad August 4-5.
