Banned Books Week:

Sept. 23 - 29, 2018

Banning Books Silences Stories

Celebrate your freedom to read! The Harlem Library is observing Banned Books Week Sept. 24-28. This week is set aside to bring together the entire community in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. Stop by the library to see the special display Carly has put together featuring several books that have been banned in the past but still remain on the library shelves thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, students, and community members who stand up or speak out for the freedom to read. You may also take part in the Shredded Banned Book Guessing Game.

The library board of trustees meets today, Sept. 26, 4:15 P.M. in the library meeting room.
