Phyllis Ann (Wilson) Rouland

Phyllis Ann (Wilson) Rouland, [aka PAR, Aunt Pilty, Grandma Pilty, and her all time favorite Grandma Pretty] peacefully passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at Saint Patrick Hospital, at the age of 85. She was born December 26, 1932 in Harlem, Montana to Robert and Esther Wilson. Phyllis was the second child in a family of eight. As a young girl she lived in Harlem where she attended Harlem Public School and graduated in 1950.

Phyllis worked for eight years as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Harlem School system. On April 1, 1951 she married DeVone (T-Bone) Rouland. The couple had two children, Cheryl and Greg. The family moved from Harlem in 1961 and relocated to Missoula, Montana. She soon took a job as secretary for the U.S. Forest Service Fire Lab. After losing her husband, she retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1988.

This was the start of Phyllis’ adventures, which included a grand trip to Germany and a tour of the United States with her best friend and three grandchildren. One of these adventures included Phyllis and her sister Marilyn when they became Campground hosts up in Lee Creek, in the Lolo National Forest. Phyllis was a long time member of the Good Sam organization. She was a state secretary for many years. Phyllis loved to hit the road with her favorite traveling companions, her daughter and Corky.

Family was a large component to her life. Once you were part of the family, you were in for life. A great example of this was with her bowling team, which was made up of her daughter and extended family. Phyllis was a big Montana Grizzly fan. She enjoyed many evenings in Bonner Park listening to the Missoula Symphony music. In her later years she enjoyed following her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their activities.

Survivors include her two children; Cheryl Neilson of Missoula, MT. Greg (Vicki) Rouland of Fayetteville, NC; three grandchildren; Tracy (Dustin) Burnaby, Lee Wayne Rouland, and Denny (Denise) Neilson II; three great grand children; Gabriel, Mikaita and Kamyrn; many wonderful nieces and nephews; one loving sister; Lois Butcher (who must now carry on with the adventures)

She was preceeded in death by her parents; Robert and Esther Wilson; husband Devone (T-Bone) Rouland; six siblings, Helen Bristow, Bill Wilson, Marilyn Myers-Kinzle, John Wilson, Judy Jones, and Bob Wilson.
