The Friends of the Harlem Library Holiday Wine & Cheese Fundraiser is tonight at 6 P.M. Call the library to see if there are still tickets available.

The library is holding special hours today and will be open from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. There is no After School Story Hour today but we will meet again Dec. 12 at 3:30 P.M. Lego Club meets on Thursday at 4:30. Books and Babies is held on Tuesday at 10 A.M. The Book Club is taking a break until January.

The Book Challenge for December is to read a book with less than 150 pages. If you have completed the November Book Challenge please let the library know so your name can be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business.

You have just a few weeks to complete the 2018 Reading Challenge to read 52 (or more!) books this year! If you meet the goal you will have the chance to win a fabulous gift basket including a $25 gift card.

During this holiday season be sure to stop by and pick up a Christmas book from our special display. The new titles added this year include “The Christmas Star” by Donna VanLiere, “Catching Christmas” by Terrri Blackstock, “A Christmas Revelation” by Anne Perry, “The Christmas Remedy” by Cindy Woodsmall, “A Christmas by the Sea” by Melody Carlson and “His Promise” by Shelley Shepard Gray. We also have a great number of titles from previous years.

Other titles to choose from include “The Girl They Left Behind” by Roxanne Veletzos. Mitch Albom has written “The Next Person You Meet in Heaven,” the sequel to “The Five People You Meet in Heaven.”

“Paradox” is by Catherine Coulter. FBI agents Sherlock and Savich must find and stop a escaped mental patient obsessed with revenge in this suspense novel.

Inspirational author Karen Kingsbury has written “When We Were Young.” In a love story that takes place in a single day, readers will meet Noah and Emily who from their first meeting knew they had a special kind of love. They have more than a million followers on Instagram. But behind the photos and posts their life is anything but perfect. Noah’s obsession with social media has ruined everything and Emily calls it quits. The next morning Noah finds Emily gone and kids are years older. The strange events continue so Noah is certain he’s twenty years older and desperate for a second chance.

Other new titles include “Ambush” by James Patterson, “Killing the SS” by Bill O’Reilly, and “An Easy Death” by Charlaine Harris.
