We've Got The County Covered
The Blaine County Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday February 25, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Free People Reading Freely Book Club will meet Monday March 4th at 7:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. We are continuing to read banned books, but we are branching out beyond the top ten of 2017. Library Staff has put together a list of banned books available for participants to choose from. You have probably read more than one banned book on the list! We have had some thought-provoking discussions.
Lot's of changes are happening at the library. We are currently renovating our restrooms so that we have handicapped accessibility. We have also been working to create engaging spaces in our library. If you have been in the library over the last couple of weeks, you probably have noticed that we have moved shelves, books, and seating areas and we are just getting started!
Thanks to a donation from the Jesse James Memorial Foundation, we were able to purchase new furniture and accessories to make our young adult area more inviting and engaging. Our seating area now includes end tables with USB and electrical outlets, as well as two laptop tables. A shout out and a huge thank you to the Dannels' family for their generous support of the library! We hope to have that area completed in the next couple of weeks.
Successful library service to young school-aged children means creating library spaces and programs that address their needs and engage their developing and curious minds. To make our children's area more engaging and accessible, we moved the juvenile fiction shelves over by the young adult fiction. We now have a large open space in the children's area, which will make that area more flexible. We were able to utilize shelving that had been stored in the basement for the easy books. Those shelves are lower, which makes them easier for the younger kids to access the books. We have interactive play areas such as a doll house, a kitchen, wood blocks, Duplo LEGOs, puzzles and board books. We will continue to update and rearrange that area in the next few weeks as new items arrive.
Remember February is "Love Your Library" month. Be sure to fill out one of the "I Love My Library Because" hearts during your next visit.
