We've Got The County Covered
Last week during National Agriculture Week, a week set aside to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture, Blaine County Veterinary Service learned that they had won a 2018 Best of Chinook Award in the category of Veterinarian. The doctors and staff at the clinic were honored to receive the community's support and approval implied by this award.
"We would like to thank everyone for this great award," Lynette Nussbaum said in a phone interview. "The award arrived in the mail and is anonymous, so we just want to express our gratitude."
An inspection of the Blaine County Veterinary Service's (BCVS) website or their Facebook page will reveal notes and comments from many satisfied customers, providing a testament to their status as Best of Chinook. A brief note included with the award stated that "The Best of Chinook Award was created to acknowledge the best businesses in our community."
BCVS started business in Chinook in 1972, and since that time their mission has been "to provide the finest health care possible to their patients, with utmost respect for their clients' needs." Given the clinic's commitment to fulfilling its mission and to providing quality care likely explain the reasons for the award.
Roger Baxter, DVM, who provides both small and large animal care, has served as the Bovine Specialist for over 40 years. A 1970 graduate of the Washington State University School for Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Baxter understands his clients and enjoys being in the field working with them and their livestock.
In 1980, Dr. Baxter solidified his commitment to the Chinook community by establishing his clinic location at 620 Stockyard Road. Recent updates to the facility include new panels and a tub with alley access.
Another doctor at the clinic, Jessica Robb, DVM, is the Small Animal Care Specialist. A native of southwest Nebraska, Dr. Robb moved to Blaine County upon her graduation from Iowa State University's School of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the BCVS in June of 2016. Although she enjoys working on the large animal side of BCVS's business, her true passion is small animal medicine-something she has enjoyed since childhood.
This award shows value for the essential role that veterinarians and their staff play in the agriculture community. As part of the rural producers' network, they help to keep animals healthy and contribute to the area's economy.
