Victor - Mary Alice Sutherlin, 82, of Victor passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. She was born November 18, 1936 in Bozeman the daughter of Ansel and Mary Hathaway.
Marry Alice was raised in Bridger Canyon, MT and graduated from Gallatin County High School. In 1954 she married Albert Sutherlin who was attending Montana State University. She moved back to Albert’s home town of Stevensville.
Marry Alice had many professions in her long life from working at the Hamilton Dairy Queen to being the school’s librarian in Turner, MT. The one she truly loved was being a mother and a friend to her children.
Marry Alice was a member of the Sapphire Quilt Club. She loved to sew quilts and give them away to her family and friends. In 2008 the Sapphire Quilt Club featured Mary Alice, it was a memorable occasion.
Mary Alice is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert Sutherlin; three sons, Glen (Tina), Bob (Laurie) and Ed (Katie), all of Stevensville; one daughter, Teresa (James) Thorsten of Genesee, Idaho .; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and Bill Hathaway; one sister, Francis Rapp.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville. Interment followed the service at the Victor Cemetery. A reception followed the committal at the Masonic Temple in Stevensville. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Shalae Jessop, Kathy’s Place and Valley View Estates.
