Marji was born on May 14, 1932, in Westby, to Nels and Ingaborg (Kvarnstrom) Ward, and was raised in Westby, attending school there. She graduated from high school at age 16 and moved with her sisters to the "city", so they could attend Northern Montana College to study nursing. Marji graduated when she was 16 years old, but she had to wait until she turned 21 to take her state board exam to become a Registered Nurse. Upon passing her board exam, she began working for Sacred Heart Hospital, and in 1953, she married Larry Sapp. The couple had three children. Over the next 50 years, Marji would work at Sacred Heart, Deaconess, and the Havre Clinic, rising to the position of Director of Nurses at all three. She retired after 50 years of nursing, and began devoting more time to her husband Larry, her grandchildren, and her flowers.

When she was younger, Marji enjoyed crafts, bowling, and softball. She and Larry loved to go dancing and to socialize, and Marji especially enjoyed playing hostess to their friends. Some of these pursuits got left behind as she got older, but she always loved to bake and work in her flower gardens. Her most treasured time was spent spoiling her grandchildren. She was a kind, loving lady who made a lasting impression on everyone around her.

Marji was preceded in death by her husband Larry Sapp; parents, Nels and Ingaborg Ward; sisters, Vernice Mueller, Ann Marie Gregoire, and Darlene Ward; brothers, Bernt and John Ward; and numerous friends and other relatives.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Dan) Brown of Billings, and Dana (Scott) Seidel of Havre; son Steve (Chris) Sapp of Havre; nine grandchildren, Lance Sapp (Amber), Jeremy Sapp, Heather Sapp (Jeremy), Kara BlackTongue (Amor), Spencer Brown, Kyle (Jennifer) Brown, Samantha (Tyler) Thompson, Jayme Seidel, and Sadie Seidel; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Linda (Rick Neiss) Ward of Helena; brother Jim (Sharon) Ward of Columbia Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews..
