We've Got The County Covered
Mark your calendars for 12:30 P.M. Sunday October 27th. JUMP's Mission team will be hosting a Star Wars mystery dinner for the community to kick off mission fundraising this year. This may sound familiar, as it will be the third time JUMP has put on a mystery dinner for the public and as always they are more fun than a light saber fight!
When you think of mystery dinners you may think dinner theater and murder mysteries. At JUMP's dinner party the mystery will be more of "what did I just order?" Each diner will receive a menu with three courses on it, they must choose which items they want to have served to them during each course.
While you will know what items are being offered, you may not recognize them as each item will have a Star Wars themed name. In other words, you might be ordering things like "The Force" and "wookie cookies". Needless to say lots of laughs happen when you order your main course with no fork, or maybe some Jello with a side of salad dressing and a knife. Just to add to the fun after each course all of your items are whisked away to deep space...or the kitchen.
As insurance for the less adventurous, forks will be for sale that you can keep for the entire meal, and we promise that we will serve you a cohesive dinner in the correct order at the end of the fun if you like. The meal this year will include bourbon chicken, rice, egg rolls, and egg drop soup along with salad and sides.
The Star Wars mystery dinner is the first Mission Team fundraiser for the 19-20 year. JUMP's mission crew has big plans for mission work so you will be seeing them around. The site for the 2020 mission is not set for sure, but they plan for a big trip this year that will most likely include flying to a destination somewhere in the states.
Another big event to watch for is the "famous" homemade holiday pies, orders starting soon. After almost ten years of pie baking JUMP has the pie assembly line figured out and can crank out delicious made from scratch pies in no time! Spring will bring a couple more events, including "Easter Bunny visits" and our Ultimate Salad and Dessert bar.
For those who may not know, JUMP is a non-denominational Christ centered youth group for grades 7-12. The group is open to all regardless of church affiliation.
We meet Wednesday evenings at Wallner Hall from 6:30-8:30. Community service is something our group tries to be involved in regularly, so besides our yearly mission trips, we hold an annual food drive, collect for community chest, and find other areas of need to participate in each month if possible.
