In 1954, Andy was born at the Fort Belknap Agency to George and Hazel (Cuts The Rope) Doney. In 1973, Andy met the love of his life, Ruby. They raised two children together, Desi and Gil. He made many lifelong friends throughout his law enforcement career and was always happy to catch up with law enforcement family. He loved to tease and joke around with all of his friends and you could always count on a good laugh on any given day. He was well known in Indian country and it isn't uncommon to hear an "Andy Doney" story about his police work.
Andy had a passion for horses, spending many hours taking care of them and teaching his grandkids how to ride. His pride and joy was his Caucasian Mountain Shepard dog, Sarge. Andy loved to hunt, fish and play basketball in his younger years. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed every minute. Andy's baby daughter Angie held a special place in his heart and he spent his last years loving and caring for her every day.
Andy will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who loved his family unconditionally and was a loyal friend to many. Andy Doney was the best grandfather, teaching his grandchildren everything they needed to know.
