Kent was born on May 16, 1953 in Havre, MT to Harold and Marilyn "Joanne" Lybeck. The first 2 years of his life, the family lived 13 miles northeast of the Sweet Grass Hills. In 1956 the family moved to a farm/ranch north of Chinook. At the age of 8, Kent lost his father. A few years later, his mother married Wayne Willman and they raised their families together south of Chinook. Kent graduated from Chinook High School in 1971 and attended MSU Bozeman, where he earned a Business Finance degree. In 1974 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Arleen Faber. In 1975 they returned to his dad's family farm north of Lohman where they raised 3 daughters, Karleen, Kari, and Kassie. Kent spent 44 years fulfilling his love of raising cattle. He put his heart and soul into his dad's operation in hopes of being able to pass the farm on to the next generation.
Kent was considerate, kind, caring, and genuine. He had a heart of gold and never missed an opportunity to visit with anyone. He donated his time to serve on the board for both Farmer's Union as well as the Blaine County Weed Board. Kent enjoyed reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to tease and the time spent with his grandkids was priceless.
Survivors include his wife, Arleen (Faber) Lybeck, of 45 years; daughters, Karleen (Trevor) Wolery, Kari (Chris) Sullivan, and Kassie (Derek) Kittredge. Granddaughter, Kenidee Wolery, and grandsons, Rhett Wolery, Dirk Wolery, Caden Sullivan and Kohen Sullivan.
