James Peter Reed, age 91, of Turner MT passed away March 28, 2020 in Great Falls, MT. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jim was born in Zurich, MT on May 19, 1928 to Robert and Laura (Jones) Reed. After graduating from Harlem High School in 1946 he moved to Turner to help his father on the Riggin Farm. In 1949, Jim ran the grocery store until he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in the Korean war from 1950-1952.
After returning home from the war he married Dorothy Maloney on November 4, 1954. Together they raised 6 children in Turner. Jim was employed by the Turner School District as a Custodian for 28 years and as a Bus Driver for 55 years. He and his son Steve have owned and operated Reed's Elevator/Reed's Ag Enterprises since 1982.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #109 and the Lion's Club. In 2019, he retired and moved to the Timber Creek Village in Havre, MT.
Jim will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children: Jim (Terry) Reed of Miles city MT, Donna (Doug) Christensen of Rapid City SD, Craig (Monty) Reed of Great Falls MT, Dave Reed of Billings MT, Steve (Anita) Reed of Turner MT and Kris (Dale) Tiegs of Henderson MN, his 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, Sister Helen (Dan) Maloney of Havre MT, Sister-in-law Iris Reed of Texas and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, brothers Bud Reed and Jack Reed and sisters Francis Zaparynuk and Olive Cresswell Watson and special friend Virginia McCracken.
Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Wilderness Funeral Homes.
