Mary Louise (Whiteford) Kelly passed away at the Phillips County Hospital in Malta on May 29, 2020. A rosary was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta on Thursday, June 4 at 10 AM, with funeral mass immediately following at 11 AM.
Mary was born April 23, 1937 at Fort Belknap. Mary grew up in south Phillips County. She graduated from Malta High School in 1955. Mary attended Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She continued with nurses training in Miles City. On June 3, 1958 Mary married Jack Kelly in Malta. They had four children – Thea, Quinn, Juan, and Kipp. When the kids where a bit older, Mary worked at the Country Home in Malta and the Phillips County Hospital as a nurse's aide.
Mary belonged to the Garden Club in Eureka and St. Mary's Alter Society in Malta. She loved gardening and being around flowers. Mary enjoyed watching a variety of birds, her bird feeders would attract around the house in Zortman, playing games at Christmas time, reading mystery novels, the 4th of July celebration at Zortman, and watching the deer and turkeys congregate and feed around the house were among Mary's favorite pastimes. She had a great sense of humor, a wonderful laugh, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack. Daughter Thea (Orvin) Solberg; sons Quinn, Juan (Jo), Kipp (Ann); grandchildren Stacy (Kurt), Kresal, Kenny (Carly) Solberg, Gregory (Michelle) Solberg, Tony (Cassie) Solberg, Ryan (Paige) Kelley, and Kaitlyn Kelly; great-grand children include Joshua, Erick, and Josie Solberg.
