Chinook course hosts 25th Annual Fireball

The Chinook Golf Course held the 25th Annual Fireball Tournament this past Saturday and again the course was packed with players. Plenty of hole prizes were available including a trip to Hawaii and $5,000 Hole in One prizes and even a $10,000 three putt challenge.

The team of Jeff Brandon, Cory Brothers, Kaare Engebretson, Josh Knudson took top honors with a score of 60.

The Fireball has also held a Calcutta for the past several years with each team already in for themselves at $50. For the first time, this years Calcutta was divided into two groups; The top 10 teams based on handicap were placed together in the Championship Flight while the remaining 10 were together in the First Flight.

The Calcutta began with the First Flight being auctioned off first and the Championship second. The bidding was fast and furious and some good prize money was to be given to the winners. The Calcutta included only scores posted by each team on their back nine of the tournament.

Winning the Championship Flight for the Calcutta for first gross was the team of Jeff Brandon, Cory Brothers, Kaare Engebretson, Josh Knudson who shot a back nine score of 29 to win $1,120. Taking home $1,120 for first net in the calcutta was the team of Adam Demontiney, Neal Rosette, Pete Stiffarm, Ian Windy Boy with a score of 26.21. Second net went to Cody Mattfeldt, Kyle Miller, Shane Patacsil, Andre Wright, winning them $640 (27.30); Third net was worth $320 and went to Darin Hamilton, Mick Heflin, Brent Schellin, Logan Terry (27.35).

The First Flight Calcutta Overall winners ended up in a tie with a round of 32 and winning $320 per team were the team of Barb Eslick, Jay Eslick, Hoover Peterson, Kathy Peterson and the team of Matt Frye, Jason Metcalf, Bob Schmitt, Scott Schmitt.

Taking home First net in the first flight calcutta and winning $640 was the quartet of AJ Keller, Lorrie Keller, Craig Miller, Jamie Young with a 25.88. Second net and $365 went to Robert Anderson, Trace Caffyn, Mike Jones, Leland Standiford (26.3). Third net and $180 went to Trey Brown, Tim McLean, Kameran Pribyl, Jayme Seidel (26.89)

There were eight Deuces on the day with the team of Toni Collins, Kody Farmer, Kendall Harwood, Clayton Parson draining two of them. Other teams making one Deuce each were: Connor Schwab, Tom Schwab, Lane Seymour, Mike Seymour; Darin Hamilton, Mick Heflin, Brent Schellin, Logan Terry; Matt Frye, Jason Metcalf, Bob Schmitt, Scott Schmitt; AJ Keller, Lorrie Keller, Craig Miller, Jamie Young; Barb Eslick, Jay Eslick, Hoover Peterson, Kathy Peterson; Kelcey Diemert, Nancy Diemert, Jeff Finley, Scott Gunderson.

No Hole in One prizes were won and in the three putt challenge no player was able to sink the three putts to win the $10,000 cash.

At the conclusion of the tournament, players were treated to a New York Steak dinner and plenty of door prizes were given away with everyone walking away with something.

The tournament is always full and many spots in the next years tournament field have already been reserved. The 26th Annual Fireball is tentatively scheduled to be played on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
