We've Got The County Covered
The Harlem Lady Cat volleyball team was back on the court this past Thursday to take on the North Country Mavericks in a tough non-conference clash.
North Country is a Class C powerhouse and has a win against District 2B rival Glasgow this year. The Mavericks showed plenty of that power Thursday night.
The Mavericks stormed out of the gate to set the tempo early. The Lady Cats fought valiantly to match their effort but dropped the opening set 25-10.
Lady Cat Head Coach Kim Faulkinberry fired her girls up prior to the start of the second set and for the most part they responded.
The Lady Cats were able to answer the Mavericks time and time again, but in the end the visitors narrowly defeated the Lady Cats 25-23.
The third set was very similar to the first and try as they may it just wasn’t meant to be for the Lady Cats as they fell 25-13 in set three and 3-0 in the match.
Senior Alaynee Hawley recorded four kills in the contest, Sophomore Jessica King dug up seven balls for the home team. King also recorded three assists in the loss.
The Lady Cats were set to host the Rocky Boy Morning Stars on Saturday but that contest has been moved to October.
Next up for the Harlem Volleyball team will be a home contest against the Malta M-ettes on Thursday, September 17. The Lady Cats will be looking to make a early season statement in what is sure to be a tightly contested battle between two rivals.
The Lady Cats will then head to Glasgow to face the ever tough Scotties on Friday, September 18th. They will close out September with road contests against Conrad on September 22 and Rocky Boy on September 25.
