We've Got The County Covered

Chinook Rod & Gun Club's 8th Annual Gun Show Packed full of New Attractions

The Chinook Rod & Gun Club will hold its eighth Annual Gun Show this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Commercial Building located at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. The Gun Show is the primary fund raiser for the club and like the previous seven, another great show is lined up for the weekend.

The Chinook Rod and Gun Club has cemented itself within Chinook and Blaine County as a fantastic outlet for families to get involved in the outdoors. Through the years the club has hosted several fishing excursions for the local schools. Built and maintained a top of the line outdoor gun range south of town. Organized a Trap League for adults to take part in with a number of teams participating and has held a Community Meet and Greet each spring to increase membership and awareness.

Each new year brings new ideas and new ways of organizing the show and all are done with making the overall experience better. The 8th Annual Gun and Antique show has been proud to be the largest of its kind on the Hi-line. Doors will open Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. and attendees will be amazed when they see the size of this year's show. "I'm expecting a really good turnout this year with COVID-19 shutting a lot of shows down and many vendors only being able to attend a fraction of what they normally would," said show organizer Keith Hanson. "Due to cancellations across the state many new vendors have called to secure space at our show.

Last year the Rod and Gun Club introduced 'Gun Show Bucks' in an effort to draw more visitors to the show. It's success has led to its return again this year with $1,500 of Gun Show Bucks being given away through the weekend. Drawings will be held every hour for visitors to have the opportunity to collect some bucks. "It's a great opportunity for guests to make a purchase from some local vendors," added Hanson.

Another fun addition to the 2020 show is a Shot Glass game where one purchases a shot glass with a number on the bottom and a matching ping pong ball on top. That number gets the buyer entered into a drawing to win one or possibly two guns. When purchasing a shot glass, the individual has the opportunity to add a 'power ball' for the chance to win both guns at once.

Stewart Riding has been at all of the seven previous shows and is an outstanding supporter of the Chinook Rod and Gun Club. In an effort to help the club increase its membership, Riding came up with an idea of his own for this year's event. Riding has donated many items, including custom guns in the past and will be doing so again this year. This year's donation is a .22 Rossi Long Rifle for a drawing available to any new member who signs up at the at the 2020 Gun and Antique Show.

Stewarts wife Terry is back again this fall with her incredibly popular Kahlua Cakes. All proceeds from the cake sales will go to the Chinook Rod and Gun Club Scholarship Foundation. Terry's Kahlua Cakes have become legendary in the area with folks asking for them throughout the year. Each year she leaves a number of cakes that are available for purchase at the Blaine County Journal.

Among the many vendor tables will be another great addition to the show, "This year I'm really excited to announce that we are bringing in two elite custom gun builders, concealed carry apparel as well as three custom AR builders," said Hanson. Also, on display will be a fantastic antique gun display and with plenty of old rifles and pistols. The show will include plenty of ammo available as well as new and used long guns, shotguns and pistols for purchase from a large number of vendors. This year's show will also have a rather large knife display as well.

A variety of services will be made available to visitors as well, "We can appraise rifles if you have one, and our vendors are willing to buy, sell and trade wares," added Hanson. "We are really glad to be on board again this year with the Chinook Chamber and to participate in our Sugarbeet Festival on Saturday and we have encouraged our vendors to participate as well."

This year's show is shaping up to be the best yet, "I'm expecting a really good turnout this year with COVID-19 shutting a lot of shows down and many vendors only being able to attend a fraction of what they normally would that we will have a great turnout and everyone to have a really good time. It's great opportunity for local citizens to have access to products they normally wouldn't. We hope to see you there. Come and support one of the growing non-profit clubs in Blaine County," concluded Hanson.
