We've Got The County Covered

Harlem Library

The library requires masks or face coverings be worn by everyone ages five and up while in the library. We are trying very hard to keep everyone safe and we ask that you do your part as well. We are still providing curbside service if you do not wish to enter the library or you choose to not wear a mask. Please call to request materials or make arrangements to return materials. The library staff is still sanitizing and keeping materials in quarantine before shelving them.

The Harlem Public Library will have a small display set up to celebrate Banned Books Week, September 28-October 2. It will include posters with this year's theme "Censorship is a Dead End. Find Your Freedom to Read," books in our collection that have been challenged or banned in other parts of the country, and a coloring sheet and maze that patrons can complete. We will also be posting infographics and other related material to our Facebook page.

Children of all ages are invited to join Virtual Story Time on Tuesdays at 10 A.M. on Facebook Live. Join Carly for this fun time of stories, fingerplays, and songs! Each week you may pick up a “take and make” activity packet for your child(ren) to complete at home. There will be no Virtual Story Time October 6.

The library has compiled a back-to-school plan to assist students, parents and educators during the pandemic and its unique effect on education. If students need a place to study they are welcome as long as they follow the guidelines we have set up. The library is now leaving the Wi-Fi on when the library is closed to assist those who need to use the internet after hours. The password must be obtained at the front desk. This will continue as long as there is no illegal activity using the library Wi-Fi.

The library has hotspot devices available for check out which will allow access to the internet from anywhere as long as there is a cellular connection. Please contact the library for information on checkout requirements. These devices were provided using Cares Act funds; three from Montana State Library and two through a grant from Humanities Montana and National Endowment for the Humanities.

If you have completed the September Book Challenge please contact the library to be entered to win a gift certificate from a local business. The Book Challenge for October is to read a book with a body part in the title. We have some selections on display for you to choose from.

The Book Club continues to meet Mondays at 4 P.M. via Skype. The link is on our website and Facebook page.
