We've Got The County Covered
The Harlem Volleyball and Cross Country teams have had to adjust their schedules numerous times this fall with cancellations and rescheduling. For the third week in a row the volleyball team got to compete just one time while their other scheduled match was canceled. Cross Country didn't get an opportunity to compete this week either and with fall sports being a question mark in general, having the kids get together is a nice gesture.
For the most part the kids don't really have an opportunity to watch each other compete and support the other teams. Assistant football coach Kent Mount said, "Excellent way for our student athletes to bond because they are so busy with practices and games they hardly see each other."
40 kids from the three teams took part in the activities that included the volleyball team taking on the football team in one set and the cross country team in another. The volleyball team was victorious in both sets.
On the football field the kids played 11 on 11 'Ultimate football', "We just split up into co-ed teams and played one 15 minute half," stated Mount.
The Fun day also included a number track and field type events "We had relay runs with volleyball, football and cross country competing against each other We had an egg and spoon run, bear crawl races, piggy back races, leap frog races, and a 400 m relay to finish," concluded Mount.
For all the photos of the event go to the Harlem Football facebook page to find them. In the end the coaches and student athletes all seemed to have a good time and experience some true school spirit together.
The Harlem Wildcats will continue throughout the week with Homecoming themes each day.
