Barbara "Barb" Jean Miller

Barbara "Barb" Jean Miller, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2020 due to brain cancer. Barb was born on August 19, 1952 in Havre, Montana to Robert (Bob) and Jean (Hay) Neely. Barb attended Harlem High School and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Montana State University-Northern in 1971. Upon graduation, she moved to Shelby, Montana where she met and married her husband of 48 years, Ronald "Ron" Miller I.

Barb was a woman of great strength and lived her life through example. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Barb always put others first before herself. As a child, she took care of her grandparents, eventually working as a nurses' aide before working as an LPN. Barb worked as a nurse for the Toole County Hospital and Clinic in Shelby for over 25 years, as well as Hill County Health Department in Havre. As a nurse she worked in many different areas, including both hospital and clinical nursing, in nursing homes, respiratory care, the emergency department, and as a county health nurse. Barb was an EMT for over 20 years while she lived in Shelby working for the volunteer ambulance. She was also active in the first aid education system, working for years as the instructor for other instructors for CPR training. During her career, she received many awards for her dedication to serving others.

After Barb retired in 2011, she looked forward to seeing her former co-workers from Shelby every year when they met for lunch in Missoula.

She was known as a compassionate and loving person where family was always the focus of her life. She treasured moments with her children and grandchildren, often planning fun activities when family visited, having grandma sleepovers, baking many treats including her amazing cinnamon rolls, and being there for every major milestone. She enjoyed bowling with her husband, as well as attending fairs and festivals during their winter trips to Florida. She also enjoyed fishing with neighbors in Florida as well as her grandchildren in Seattle. She will be missed by many.

Barb is survived by her husband, Ronald Miller; sons, Greg (Joni) Miller, Ronald II (Lisa) Miller, Brian (Kasi) Miller; stepdaughters, Sheryl Faddis and Candy Vanblaricom; siblings: Robert Neely II, Mike Neely, Jim Neely, Peggy Neely, Dave Neely, and Richard Neely; grandchildren: Brandon Mallo, Tabetha Dashofy, Alycia Cotton, Blair Hanson, Brent Hanson, Brandi Carpenter, Ronnie Miller, Becca Miller, Breanna Miller, Garrett Miller, Hannah Miller, Payton Miller, and Bennett Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
