Have you noticed that you can’t hear people quite as well as you used to before everyone wore masks? Chances are that you have been compensating for any hearing loss by being able to read lips while someone was speaking to you and now that we have to wear masks, we can no longer read lips and find ourselves saying “what?” a lot more. If you find that you have hearing loss, get it checked out with a hearing specialist.
