Helen A. Hornung, 93, passed away March 8, 2021 at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook, MT. A service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 11:00am at Turner American Lutheran Church in Turner, MT.
Helen was born March 21, 1927 in Pettibone, North Dakota, to Clinton Chapman and Electa Davey. She grew up on a farm west of Pettibone and studied at Pettibone Public Schools for twelve years. On June 18, 1945, she married Elmer W. Hornung.
Helen worked as the head cook for Turner Public Schools from 1959 to 1993 when she retired. She was a member of the Turner Lutheran Church, WELCA, ODO Club, Card Club, and Modern Mrs. Club. She served on the Senior Center Board for Little Rockies and was the 2007 Harlem Senior Citizen of the year.
Helen enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, games, and puzzles. She also enjoyed several crafts such as bead work, ceramics, crocheting, macrame, and glass painting.
Helen is survived by her daughter Deborah Calvert, Son in Law Richard Calvert, Daughter in Law Darlene Price, Her grandchildren Tim (Katie) Hornung, Tammy (Don) Bruha, Julie Hornung, Ben (Claudene) Calvert, and Brian Calvert , eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces nephews and friends.
She is preceeded in death by her parents Clinton Chapman and Electa Davey, Husband Elmer W Hornung, Daughter Carolyn Hornung, Son Clayton Hornung, and all of her siblings.
