We've Got The County Covered

Individual Transportation contracts due June 1, 2021

As the 2020-21 school year ends, we are already beginning the preparations for the 2021-22 school year. Parents who live more than 3 miles from a school that does not provide bus transportation or more than 3 miles from the nearest bus stop may be entitled to reimbursement for transporting their child. Pursuant to ARM 10.7.105, all school districts are required to have individual transportation contracts for the ensuing year signed and returned to their school district of residence by June 1. Any contract submitted to the County Superintendent of Schools after this date will not be processed and the presenter of the contract will not be reimbursed. Contracts may be completed after this date ONLY for students who move into the district or become eligible transportees after this date. (20-10-124(2), MCA and ARM 10.7.101).

The board of trustees is prohibited from issuing warrants on the transportation budget in the absence of a contract. State reimbursement is paid only on claims supported by valid contracts. To be eligible to receive reimbursement for a contract, transportation for the mileage reported on the contract must actually occur. Parents of students living in isolated locations should talk to their school clerk concerning possible additional reimbursement.

Individual transportation contracts are available from the local school districts. For more information, contact your local school clerk or the Blaine County Superintendent of Schools at 357-3270.
