Meadowlark School Celebrates Substitutes

On Tuesday afternoon, May 25, the administration and staff at Meadowlark Elementary School held an appreciation celebration for their substitutes. In addition to receiving a personalized thank you card signed by all of the teachers and paraprofessionals, each substitute for the school district was also invited to select from a smorgasbord of comestibles.

Principal of the school, Mr. Shane Bartschi opened the gathering with some words of welcome and gratitude, thanking the community members for their willingness to partner with them during this year of atypical circumstances. His words were followed by food and punch.

Each of the teachers had prepared a dessert or an appetizer to share. Several tables in the school's lunchroom were laden with sweets like lemon blueberry bars, finger-sized eclairs, sliced apples and fruit dip, and chocolate mousse pie, as well as hors d'oeuvre fare such as crock pot nacho chicken dip, smoked sausages in barbecue sauce, shrimp cocktail on a bed of cream cheese served with an assortment of crackers, and various other chips and dips.

Those gathered socialized, reminisced, and nibbled as they looked ahead to summer plans.
