We've Got The County Covered
The Chinook Golf Course and Country Club is holding its 5th Annual Community Dinner and Live Auction on Saturday, June 26th at the Blaine County Fairground Commercial Building.
Everyone is welcome to attend as it features something for everyone, and is not just for those who play golf but to anyone who enjoys community outings.
The fundraiser is to help raise funds for maintenance and upkeep of the course. Equipment needs to be repaired or updated as well as fertilizer, bug spray, sand and other common needs for the course.
Last years event was unfortunately pushed back until October due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This year things are back on track and we are hoping for another outstanding turnout. The event provided a huge boost to the course. This year the course has already dealt with some major issues with a once a century sandstorm covering the course in February.
The amount of sand distributed across the course was mind blowing. With the help a number of community business and generous volunteers things are really looking good. Patrick Construction hauled hundreds of semi loads of sand off the course. Jack Goodrich Excavation, Darin Hamilton and Mick Hefflen donated their time and equipment to help remove and relocate sand around the course as well.
Course Superintendents Mike Seymour and Mike Jones have done a fantastic job getting the course in shape for the season and utilized some of the sand to improve the course. Jack Goodrich, Darin Hamilton Daniel MacLeod, Kohen Sullivan, Chris Jungers, Drake Berreth, Preston Overcast, and David Saenz helped in getting new tee boxes in place on both hole 3 and hole 4.
There are a lot of things planned for the night which begins with a social hour at 5:00 p.m. The Beverage Bar will open with refreshments being handled by the Mint Bar and will be served throughout the night.
Barbecued Baby Back Ribs are the main attraction of the dinner. Side dishes, desserts and more will accompany the ribs with help from some wonderful women who happen to be outstanding cooks. Dinner will be served from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Ginger Hansen has organized a fantastic event and gathered plenty of great auction items as well as many door prizes. Their is always a great selection of items, including several that you never knew you really needed!
The Live Auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Auctioneer Kevin Elias running the show. Kevin does a great job and in addition to being a outstanding auctioneer, Kevin is a heck of an entertainer as well and puts on a great show.
At 8:00 p.m. this years event will cap the night off with one of the most popular local bands around. Plowed Under will take the stage and finish out the night on the stage entertaining the crowd with their brand of all around good music.
As always there will be a number of door prizes being given away throughout the night as well. This is a community event meant to be a fun time for the entire family not just golfers.
All proceeds will go to upkeep and improvement to the local course.
