We've Got The County Covered
The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation is making progress, not only with donations but with their two projects. However, progress has been somewhat slow recently.
According to Foundation Treasurer Jessica Aberg, the group is continuing to market its efforts so as to ensure their plans reach fruition. Although they have applied for grants and have various "balls rolling," no actual construction has begun.
"Engineering documents are done, a plan is in play, and we have a viable budget for a grand plan that will include water slides, splash pads, an outdoor theater, and park equipment-among other things," President of the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation, Heather DePriest stated.
Late last month, the organization received a gift from the Graham family. About the sizeable donation that was given in memory of their parents, Curly and Julia Graham, DePriest said: "We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Graham family for their generous $1,000 donation to the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation (FPPF). It's these very donations that are making our project a reality."
In order to remind readers about the Graham family, the middle child, Karen Dooley shared this information: "Our father, K.V. Graham was always known as Curly Graham. He owned the Bar X tavern for a number of years, and in retirement he helped out area ranchers. Our mom, Julia Mohar Graham taught at South Fairview School for many years. Mom was active in the Catholic Church, VFW, and bowling.
"We siblings gathered together this summer and shared fond memories of our time growing up in Chinook. All of us spent time swimming in the Chinook City Pool, and when we learned of the campaign to raise funds for pool improvements, we decided to make a donation."
