Save the Date for a Pair of Palate Pleasing Community Fundraisers

The crew at the Blaine County Wildlife Museum and members of the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation are asking area residents to 'Save the Date,' October 2, for a pair of community fundraisers with palate pleasing profiles.

In conjunction with the Blaine County Wildlife Museum's (BCWM) community barbecue, the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation (FPPF) will hold a Brewfest on Saturday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. at Sweet Memorial Park in Chinook.

According to Kelsey Harry, one of the organizers of the Brewfest, two breweries that plan to have representatives onsite pouring their beer are Triple Dog Brewing Company located in Havre and Beaver Creek Brewery from Wibaux that boasts "a flavor for every profile." Members of the FPPF will be pouring additional Montana craft beers and other popular beverages as well, using their licensed pourers.

When Foundation members learned that the Wildlife Museum was planning a barbecue, the two organizations decided to collaborate. "It's always nice to have food at a brewfest, and barbecue and beer complement one another," Harry stated. "Come enjoy many different craft beers and ciders as well as a barbecue from our friends at the Blaine County Wildlife Museum. Mark your calendars for this fun event!"

The barbecue meal will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, and a variety of salads. Vicki Hofeldt, who serves on the BVWM Board, will be doing the cooking.

The funds generated by the barbecue will contribute to off-setting general operating costs of the museum while all proceeds from the Brewfest will benefit the FPPF's mission to upgrade the Ensign Sweet Memorial Park and the Chinook City Pool.

Although nothing is firm about music, Harry reported that there is the possibility that the Stonebroke String Band may play, "even though the glue that kept the band together (a reference to Jeannie Powell) has passed on." According to their Facebook page, the Stonebroke String Band plays "a mix of bluegrass, country, and a little of this and a little of that."

A silent auction will also accompany the event. Anyone interested in donating something for the auction is encouraged to contact Tammy Edwards at 399-1428.
