September is Library Card Sign Up Month! If you are not the proud owner of a library card take this opportunity to sign up. To register for a library card you must be age sixteen and older and present a current photo ID, working phone number, and mailing address. After completing the registration form, your card will be mailed to you. Bring your card in to use it to check out one item for the first time. After returning that item on time you may have regular privileges. Preschool children may check out under their parents' or legal guardians' cards. Students up to age 16 may register for a card with a parent/guardian who presents current ID information.

Children are invited to participate in the programs available at the library. Storytime meets Tuesdays at 10 A.M. for children ages 0-5 accompanied by a parent or guardian. After School Squad for elementary students is held each Wednesday at 3:30 and focuses on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities.

Lego Club for all ages will begin September 23 from 4:30-5:30.

The Book Club, a book discussion group for adults, meets Mondays at 4 P.M.

Everyone is invited to join the Rock Painting Party September 16, noon – 6 P.M. in the library meeting room. As part of the Harlem Rocks! movement come and create rocks to share with others spreading joy and kindness through art and words. All supplies will be provided. Preschool children must be accompanied by an adult. Join in anytime during the afternoon.

The library board of trustees will hold their monthly meeting September 22, 4:15 P.M. in the library meeting room.

Some library services to highlight this month include scanning and faxing, printing and photo copying, notary services, laminating, interlibrary loans, mobile hotspots, tablets, and free Wi-Fi!

J.A. Jance's new novel is "Unfinished Business," an Ali Reynolds mystery. "The Letter Keeper" is a Murphy Shepherd novel by Charles Martin. Book Two of the When Hope Calls series by Janette Oke and Laurel Oke Logan is "Sustaining Faith."

"This Close to Okay" is by Leesa Cross-Smith. In this powerful novel, Tallie Clark spots a man standing on the edge of a bridge one rainy October night. She pulls over and convinces him to join her for a cup of coffee that turns into a weekend where Tallie makes it her mission to provide Emmett a safe space. What she learns is Emmett isn't the only one who in need of healing.

The latest Jack Ryan novel by Tom Clancy is "Target Acquired." A simple favor for a friend finds Jack hurtling down a path of violence and betrayal. "The Heathens" is by Ace Atkins. Sheriff Quinn Colson finds himself at odds with everyone when he tries to defend juvenile delinquent TJ Byrd from taking the fall for her mother's murder.
