We've Got The County Covered

Final Market Day Takes Place This Weekend

The final Market Day of 2021 for the Chinook Market Farmer and Flea 59523 is October 9. It will take place at the Blaine County Fairgrounds in the Commercial Building from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

With autumn in the air, one of the event’s organizers, Chad McKenzie invites everyone to come drink some apple cider and enjoy shopping for the upcoming holidays before the snow flies. Past vendors have provided knitted/crocheted articles, homemade crafts, rummage sale items, holiday wares (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas), beauty products, jewelry, and various other gift items.

Among the confirmed vendors for October 9 will be PAWS of Chinook and Bounce On In of Havre. The Fair Foundation will be selling soup and buns, and the children of Edwin and Alissa Hewitt will be raising money for the Chinook Volunteer Fire Department with treats for sale and rides on Spark.

According to the boys’ mother, “Charlie and Ed converted an old riding lawnmower into this thing that Charlie drove in the Sugarbeet Festival Parade. He calls the vehicle Spark and plans to give rides on Saturday as he and his brother continue to raise money for the fire department.”

The children’s interest in helping the fire department grew after seeing the results of a fire at the animal shelter from a few years ago. “They were worried that if firemen didn’t have what they needed, they couldn’t save the animals,” Hewitt reported.

Anyone interested in offering something for sale at the Market is encouraged to contact Debbie Ramberg by calling or texting 406-945-3841. Interested vendors can also visit https://blainecountyfair.net to fill out a vendor form. These completed forms can be emailed to blainecountyfair@gmail.com.
