We've Got The County Covered
The Harlem Wildcats and Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds were in Missoula this past Saturday for the Montana All-Class State Cross Country Meet. The Wildcats contingent consisted of seven runners, six in the boys Class B race and one in the Girls Class B. The Thunderbirds had one athlete in the boys Class C race.
Harlem senior Taya Trottier capped off a stellar season by earning All-State recognition with a 12th place finish. The Class B girls race consisted of 154 runners in all.
Trottier got off to a good start completing her first mile in 6:34.30. Mile number two was a bit slower at 7:08.98. Trottier, being an experienced runner finished strong crossing the finish line 21:05.28. For the race Trottier finished with a pace of 6:48 per mile.
Taya was the lone female on this years team and she caps off a fine cross country career for the Wildcats. Trottier last competed at the State Class B meet her sophomore season finishing 17th with a time of 21:09.89.
The Wildcats had six athletes in the field of 178 boys in Missoula to run the Class B Boys Course. Finishing at the top of the group was senior Daniel Lawrence with a time of 19:58.35. Right behind Lawrence was senior Titan Brockie who crossed the finish line in 20:01.30.
Rounding out the Wildcat contingent was freshman Lance Morgan with a time of 20:42.26. Junior Landen Gray completed the course in 22:46.93. Sophomore Moses Lawrence finished with a time of 23:26.78 followed by senior Creedance Blackbear who crossed the finish line in 32:47.82.
Junior Bill Quincy represented the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds in Missoula. Quincy competed alongside 111 Class C boys at the State Meet, finishing with a time of 26:53.88.
