We've Got The County Covered
After an All-Class Reunion for the Zurich Elementary School was cancelled twice due to circumstances surrounding the pandemic, the Zurich Association of Parents (ZAP) decided it was time to do something with the funds in the ZAP account.
About the funds, one of the ZAP members, Betty Billmayer said: “Unless someone else wants to step up and take charge of a reunion, I’d say it’s time to let it go. It sounded like a great idea at the time, but we didn’t get a lot of response from people actually wanting to help. Maybe there would be more enthusiasm now and fewer conflicts to try it again; otherwise, I suggest we abandon the idea.”
ZAP surveyed several people involved to secure their ideas about the funds and how they might be used. Some of those who weighed in suggested the funds be donated to an organization to meet a local need. That list of possibilities included the Chinook Food Pantry, the community youth group JUMP, Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation, Zurich Park, and Zurich Elementary School.
Since the consensus determined that the school was the most obvious choice, a representative from ZAP approached the Zurich School Board. The Board felt that the funds could be used at school for the playground. They have a fund that would allow them to work toward a future goal and reported that they would dedicate the improvements to ZAP.
Given that decision, the ZAP account will be liquidated and a check issued as a contribution towards the purchase of playground equipment at Zurich Elementary School.
