Alice Fern (Tow) Conner, 90, passed away April 28, 2022, at Sweet Nursing Home after a short illness.
A memorial service will be held on July 11, 2022, at 2 PM at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre, MT. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried at a later date.
Alice was born in Havre, MT, on November 6, 1931, to Wilfrid and Margret Tow. She graduated from Havre High in 1949 and Northern Montana College in 1952. She married Max Conner on June 23, 1952 in Havre, MT, where they raised their 3 daughters.
Alice's chosen profession was teaching. She started her career at 3 one-room schools. Then, after her children were older, she taught at the Radar Base North of Havre and St Judes until her retirement in 1997.
Alice was a member of Van Orsdel United Methodist Church and involved with the womens group. She was also active in Beta Sigma Phi. She loved reading, cooking, gardening, and traveling. She also loved to knit and crochet.
Alice was a kind and caring person who's door was always open whether it be for a cup of coffee or a meal. There was always room at the table for more. Her Saturday morning sourdough pancakes were a tradition for many years and enjoyed by many family and friends. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them but she had an extra special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her husband Max Conner, daughters Carol (Terry) Tomsheck, and Nora Conner, 8 granchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, siblings Rachel Mikkelsen and Charles (Ramona) Tow, many nieces and nephews, 4 sisters in law Amelia Funk, Judy Sangent, Audrey Conner, and Carrie Tow, and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wilfrid and Margret Tow, siblings Agnes Cook, Lillian Daley, Richard Tow, and Raymond Tow, daughter Denise Conner Baune-Ostwald, and grandaughter Kaitlyn Baune.
The family asks that donations be made to Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre, MT in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilderness Funeral Homes.
