We've Got The County Covered
The 38th Annual Bob Cleverly Eight-man All-Star game was played this past Saturday on the campus of Montana Tech University in Butte, Montana. The Chinook Sugarbeeters were well represented in the Classic playing and coaching for the Red Team. Sugarbeeter Head Football Coach Mike Jones was selected to be a Defensive Coach for the team while Class of 2022 graduates Drake Berreth, Oskar Pula and Toby Niederegger saw action on the field.
Being selected to represent your school at the Clev is an honor and a great opportunity to cap the year playing together with teammates as well as former rivals. "Coaching in the Montana Eight-man All-Star Bob Cleverly game was an amazing experience. I was fortunate enough to represent our program and community down in Butte last week. I cannot thank our players and coaching staff enough," said Jones. "It is because of their effort and buy-in to our program which makes our team successful. We had three young men down at the game and they did very well. They competed hard and enjoyed themselves throughout the entire week. All three of them saw some great action in the game on both sides of the ball and it was truly surreal to see them performing out there among the best players in Class C Eight-man."
Being on the Coaching staff for the Red team was rewarding, "Spending time with those coaches that were invited was truly an honor. Knowing the amount of coaching experience and knowledge that the coaches had as a whole, it was fun to talk football and pick each others brains for information," added Jones.
The 2022-23 Sugarbeeters are getting their summer started right away as they are in Bozeman this week, "We have camp coming up this week for our high school program and we are headed to Montana State. I think it is going to be super fun and exciting to be able to see how well our program does against some of the other teams across the state," said Jones. "We are taking 25 players down, which is the most since I have been in Chinook, and I think that shows the dedication these young men have to our program. This is a great week to learn from the MSU coaching staff as well as bring our team together and get a jump start on the season."
