We've Got The County Covered

Hikers Welcome

Havre Trails is hosting a hike to Rotary Falls on Sunday, July 24 for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Event organizers encourage interested hikers to RSVP so that in the event that weather causes cancellation, hikers can be contacted.

Covering a distance of just over three miles, the hike, which will follow the Upper Rotary Canyon Loop Trail to Rotary Falls in Beaver Creek Park, is expected to take two hours. With an elevation gain of 400 feet on a single-track trail with hills, this hike first follows the Upper Loop, then has a short out-and-back to Rotary Falls, and finishes along the creek on the Lower Loop Trail. Hikers are encouraged to wear hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as the trail has large open areas in full sun. It also features some shaded areas through trees and follows Beaver Creek for a large portion with excellent views of the Bear Paw Mountains and Bear Paw Lake.

Anyone interested should gather in the HRDC parking lot at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning to carpool/caravan to the trailhead or meet at the Rotary Canyon parking area at 8:30 a.m.

Any questions can be directed to hike leader, Sammie Chagnon, who can be reached at (803) 640-2607. Although dogs are allowed on the hike, their owners need to bring waste bags and keep their animals on a leash.

Hikers are also advised to "bring snacks and more water than you think you will need (40 ounces per person at a minimum)!" Furthermore, long pants are recommended, as there is tall grass on the majority of the trail.

For contact and planning purposes, an RSVP form is available on the Havre Trails' Facebook page.
