Thunderbirds Drop Pair of 7C Matches in Big Sandy

The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds were in Big Sandy on Friday to take on the Pioneers in a doubleheader. The Thunderbirds Head Coach Cindy LaMere has been working hard and it shows on the court.

Big Sandy won both matches in straight sets, but that doesn’t reflect the steps the Thunderbirds have taken in a few short weeks. Big Sandy won the first match 25-9, 25-6 and 25-19.

Match number to went Big Sandy’s way once again, but the Thunderbirds played some good volleyball at stretches throughout with extended volleys and execution of set plays.

The Pioneers won the first set of match number two 25-20. The Thunderbirds Aubrey Chandler made a nice play at the net dribbling a point over and followed that with an Ace to even the set at 19-19 before the Pioneers closed it out.

Big Sandy took set number two 25-15. The Thunderbirds got a couple of nice Kills from Shaunte Hawley along the Way. Big Sandy doubled up the Thunderbirds in set number three, 25-12 to secure the sweep.

The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbird roster this fall consists of Nashone Shambo, Kyle Zander, Shaunte Hawley, Aubrey Chandler, Imagin Fox, Hayley Cichosz, Gabrielle Walker, Legan Little Plume, Destiny Webb, Rylee Martin, Nina Fox, Cheynell McConnell, Jayla Haakanson and Alliyah Pretty Paint.

The Thunderbirds will next play Chinook on September 27 and North Star on September 30.
