The Harlem Library will be closed Thanksgiving Day; but we will be open Friday, November 25. There are no children’s program this week but they will resume the week of November 28.

The Friends of the Library are happy to announce the Holiday Wine & Cheese Fundraiser will be held again this year on December 7, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the library. Tickets are on sale now at the library for adults age 21 and older for $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Only eighty tickets will be sold. Join us for an Old Fashioned Christmas with delicious refreshments, wine tasting, live and silent auctions, door prizes, 50/50 raffle and wine and cheese pairings. Bring in the holiday season in style while you support your local library!

If you are not a Friend of the Library take this opportunity to join. Dues are $10 annually and may be dropped off at the library.

The Book Challenge for November is to read a book by a debut author. Contact the library when you have completed the challenge to have your name entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate from a local business.

The library is planning a special display for the month of December. This year we are asking community members to bring in Santa Clauses of all types to add that extra “Ho-Ho-Holiday Magic!”

“The Family Remains” is the latest novel by Lisa Jewell. In this psychological thriller three different people find themselves caught up in mysteries that are connected in ways they could have never imagined.

Stephen King had written “Fairy Tale.” In this science fiction novel a seventeen-year-old boy inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higher - for that world or ours.

“The Last to Vanish” by Megan Miranda tells the tale of Abigail Lovett who manages the Passage Inn, a cozy resort in the mountains of North Carolina. Tourist are drawn there not only for the natural beauty but also for its history as the last known location for six different visitors who vanished over the past three decades. Journalist Landon West comes to investigate the story and then disappears himself thrusting the town and the inn back into the spotlight.

Agatha Christie’s legendary sleuth Jane Marple returns to solve twelve murder mysteries in the book “Marple.” This collection is written by a host of bestselling authors who capture the wit and ingenuity of Detective Marple.

Other new titles include “The Ways We Hide” by Kristina McMorris who is the author of “Sold on a Monday.” “Oath of Loyalty,” a Mitch Rapp novel is by Vince Flynn. A new science fiction novel is “Nona the Ninth” by Tamsyn Muir.
