The Harlem Lady Cats were in Billings taking part in the Class B Tip Off Tournament played at Lockwood High School. The Lady Cats are a very young team and opened the season with a pair of games against teams returning much more experience, Friday night the Lady Cats fell 78-10. Saturday the girls turned in a more complete effort, especially in the second half but were defeated 61-36 by the Lodge Grass Indians.
Friday in the contest with Huntley Project the Lady Cats competed for all 32 minutes, but inexperience was evident from the start. Huntley led 27-5 at the end of the first quarter and 46-8 by the break before notching the 78-10 win. Junior Emma Billmayer scored seven of the Lady Cat points.
Saturday the Lady Cats again fell behind early, trailing 21-1 after eight minutes and 36-10 by halftime. After intermission the Lady Cats outscored Lodge Grass 16-14 in the third quarter and 26-25 for the half. Lodge Grass earned the 61-36 win, but the Lady Cats showed heart down the stretch.
The Lady Cats will be in Malta this Friday to start the District 2B schedule. Saturday the girls will make their home debut against the Poplar Indians. They will close out 2022 on Monday, December 19 at home against Rocky Boy and on the road, Thursday, December 22 against the Cut Bank Wolves.
