Tornadoes Top Dodson 50-41 and Fall to Box Elder 68-49

The Turner Tornadoes took care of business Friday night at home, defeating Dodson 50-4, avenging a 41-36 loss to the Coyotes in December. Saturday Turner was in Box Elder to face the Bears in a tough test. Turner played well but couldn't get by the Bears in a 68-49 loss.

The Tornadoes found their mark from distance early on Friday night. Sophomore Cassidy Grabofsky found freshman Bridget Reed for a three point bucket to get the scoring started. Senior Dakota Krass added a corner three with 4:30 remaining in the first for a 10-5 Turner advantage. Couple of possessions later it was Krass finding Grabofsky for another triple and a 13-5 lead.

Eighth grader Ali Doyle moved the ball around to sophomore Meridian Snider for a three point bomb to give the Tornadoes a 17-10 lead at the end of the first. Reed began the second quarter with a pull up three giving the Tornadoes five from distance in the early going and a 20-10 lead.

Krass made a nice play to shake her defender and get a bucket inside for a 24-16 Turner advantage midway through the quarter. Later Snider made a perfect entry pass in to Krass on the low block for another bucket to maintain the Turner lead. Dodson cut into the deficit some before the break but Tuner still held a 28-22 lead heading into the break.

Grabofsky continued to fire away from distance connecting three more times in the third quarter providing the offense with enough fire power to maintain a 32 lead heading into the final eight minutes of action. Snider dropped in the Tornadoes ninth triple of the contest in the fourth quarter helping the Tornadoes secure a 50-41 win over the Coyotes.

Krass led the Turner attack with 13 points on the night while Grabofsky added 12 and Snider 10 in the win.

Saturday in Box Elder the Bears jumped out to a 20-9 lead early and slowly built on it throughout the contest The Tornadoes scored 14 in the second quarter but saw the Box Elder lead grow to 37-23 by halftime. Turner trailed 52-32 heading into the fourth quarter and took a 68-49 loss when the final horn sounded. Turner had four players in double figures led by Krass with 13, sophomore Cassidy Grabofsky added 12 and eight graders Abby Grabofsky and Ali Doyle each scored 10.
