Turner Done After Falling to Big Sandy 56-33

The Turner Tornadoes may not have won many games this season, but they did play hard for 32 minutes every game and got a ton of valuable minutes for a very young team that will just continue to grow.

After falling to the top seeded Sugarbeeters in a first round contest Turner found themselves in a Loser Out contest Thursday morning with the Big Sandy Pioneers.

The No. 8 Tornadoes competed hard early on against the No. 4 Pioneers but in the end depth and experience took over leading to a 56-33 season ending loss. Freshman Bridget Reed led the way with eight points.

The experienced gained by the squad this year will certainly pay dividends when the 2023-24 season gets underway. Turner will certainly miss the leadership and experience of their lone senior Dakota Krass, but the young core returning will be fun to watch.

Turner had a couple of eighth graders, Ali Doyle and Abby Grabofsky play big minutes this season and gained valuable tournament experience in the process. Reed is a burgeoning talent in the post and alongside eight grader Natalie Richman Turner will have and strength in the paint. Turners sophomores and junior boost the teams chemistry on the court as well.
